IMG Worlds of Adventure: A Playful Universe for Everyone

Gentoo UAE

January 16, 2026

IMG Worlds of Adventure: A Playful Universe for Everyone

The first thing you notice when you walk in is the scale. Not the characters or the ride signs, just how much space there is. IMG Worlds of Adventure covers 1.5 million square feet of indoor space, all climate-controlled. In Dubai, that second detail matters as much as the first.

I visited on a Thursday afternoon. The park was busy but not overwhelming. By around 3 PM the main coaster queues had settled, and I got through four rides in around two hours with comfortable breaks in between.

Key takeaways
  • IMG Worlds of Adventure spans 1.5 million sq ft, making it one of the world's largest indoor theme parks (Wikipedia, 2025)
  • 22 rides across 6 themed zones; tickets from AED 255 per person (Gentoo)
  • Children under 1.05 m enter free; the Haunted Hotel is restricted to guests aged 15 and over
  • Rated 4.3/5 stars from 32,920 visitors on Gentoo
  • Plan 4-6 hours; the park opens at 12 PM daily; closes at 11 PM on Fridays and Saturdays

What is inside IMG Worlds of Adventure?

IMG Worlds of Adventure opened in August 2016 on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and has grown into one of Dubai's most-visited indoor attractions, rated 4.3/5 stars by more than 32,900 visitors (Gentoo). The park spans 1.5 million square feet and is divided into six distinct zones, each with its own rides, decor, and character set. The zones are large enough that moving between them feels like entering a different park entirely.

Here is what each zone offers:

Marvel Zone is the largest and most popular section. Attractions include Avengers: Battle of Ultron, Spider-Man Doc Ock's Revenge, and character meet-and-greet points for Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk. Expect longer queues here, particularly at weekends.

Lost Valley: Dinosaur Adventure covers the park's most physically intense rides. The Velociraptor is the signature outdoor coaster. Predator is a compact indoor ride with a freefall element. Jungle scenery and animatronic dinosaurs fill the space between the two. Both rides require a minimum height of 1.05 m.

Cartoon Network Zone focuses on younger visitors. Characters from The Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10, Adventure Time, and The Amazing World of Gumball populate the area. The rides are milder, which makes this the most practical zone for families with mixed ages.

IMG Kids Zone is a fully enclosed inflatable park with slides and obstacle courses. It is designed for children who are too small for the main rides and gives parents a clear rest point between zones.

IMG Boulevard is the central hub connecting all zones. It has the highest concentration of dining options and retail shops, with walkways wide enough to serve as a break from the denser ride areas. The Haunted Hotel is located at the far end of IMG Boulevard.

The Haunted Hotel is a walk-through horror attraction. The age restriction is 15 and over, with ID checks in place. Worth planning around if you are visiting with teenagers who are right on the border.

The park is fully indoors and air-conditioned throughout. There is one short outdoor stretch near The Velociraptor, but beyond that there is no sun exposure. This is a genuine consideration from May through September, when outdoor parks in Dubai become difficult to manage for long periods.

The rides I went on

IMG Worlds of Adventure has 22 rides across its six themed zones, with the main coasters concentrated in the Marvel and Lost Valley areas (Gentoo). I rode four of them on a Thursday afternoon, getting through the lot in around two hours at a steady pace. My threshold for rides sits somewhere in the middle: I enjoy coasters but do not seek out inversions or extreme freefall. All four were enjoyable and none required a recovery period.

  • The Powerpuff Girls (Cartoon Network Zone) This is a spinning ride, not a coaster. The car rotates freely as the track curves, and the degree of spin depends on your weight distribution and who you are sitting with. Mine spun more aggressively than I expected. I found it more disorienting than either of the coasters. Children who enjoy spinning will love it. Anyone with sensitivity to motion should approach it carefully. Queue time on a Thursday: around 10 minutes.
  • Avengers: Battle of Ultron (Marvel Zone) The ride begins with a themed lift sequence, then opens into a large-screen simulation room where the attraction plays out over several minutes. It is not a coaster. There is some physical movement but the experience is primarily visual and narrative. It is the most technically polished attraction I went on at IMG Worlds. Queue time: around 30 minutes, which was the longest I encountered.
  • The Velociraptor (Lost Valley) This is the park's outdoor coaster and the most conventional ride of the four. Sharp turns, a couple of drops, dinosaur-themed scenery along the route. The ride runs partly outdoors; you feel the Dubai heat briefly during that stretch, worth knowing if you are visiting in summer. The ride itself lasts around 90 seconds but moves at a good pace throughout. It suits confident children above 1.05 m and anyone who enjoys a standard family coaster. Queue time: around 15 minutes.
  • Predator (Lost Valley) Predator is compact and more intense than the exterior suggests. There is a vertical drop element that is not prominently signposted on entry. The theming is an indoor jungle, the lighting is low, and the drop arrives quickly. Of the four rides I tried, this was the most intense. Queue time: around 15 minutes.

Who can ride at IMG Worlds?

Most roller coasters at IMG Worlds of Adventure require a minimum height of 1.05 m. Some gentler attractions are accessible from 90 cm when accompanied by an adult. Children under 1.05 m enter the park free of charge and have access to IMG Kids Zone and most Cartoon Network Zone attractions (Gentoo). Individual height requirements for each ride are listed on the park map available at the entrance.

The Haunted Hotel requires guests to be 15 or older, with ID checked for anyone who appears to be under 18.

The following health conditions restrict access to multiple attractions: pregnancy, back or neck conditions, high blood pressure, cardiac conditions, and recent surgery. These are standard theme park restrictions and apply to most of the major rides at IMG Worlds.

Weight limits apply to certain attractions. Details are confirmed at the boarding gate for each ride. If this is a consideration for your group, check individual ride requirements before planning your day around a specific attraction.

Height guide for the main areas

The Velociraptor 1.05 m minimum Confident children, teens, adults
Predator 1.05 m minimum Teens, adults
Marvel Zone (main rides) 1.05 m minimum Older children, teens, adults

How do you plan your visit?

IMG Worlds of Adventure opens daily at 12 PM and closes at 10 PM Sunday to Thursday, and at 11 PM on Friday and Saturday. The park spans 1.5 million square feet, so most visitors allow 4-6 hours to cover the main zones without rushing (Gentoo). There is no time limit on visits once you are inside.

  • Getting there by car The park is in the City of Arabia development off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311). Paid parking is available on site. Search "IMG Worlds of Adventure" on Google Maps for the correct entrance.
  • Getting there by taxi or rideshare The journey from central Dubai takes around 30 minutes depending on traffic. Both Uber and Careem serve the address directly.
  • Getting there by metro The closest station is UAE Exchange on the Red Line. From there, take a short taxi or rideshare to the park. There is no walkable route from the station. A free shuttle service is also available from select pickup points in Dubai; check the current schedule when booking, as routing can vary.
  • How long to allow Four to six hours is sufficient for most adults and older children to cover the main rides across all zones. If your group includes young children who want time at IMG Kids Zone or character meet-and-greets, plan for five to seven hours. The park does not impose time limits.
  • What to wear and bring Closed-toe shoes are required for most rides. Lightweight clothing is practical even inside. Outside food and drinks are not permitted on site. Bags go through a security check at entry. Lockers are available for hire near the entrance.
  • Tickets and discount Tickets start from AED 255 per person. Children under 1.05 m enter free. Book through Gentoo to avoid the on-site ticket queue. Use the code BLOG5 at checkout for a discount on your booking. Free cancellation is available up to 24 hours before your visit date.

What is the food like at IMG Worlds?

IMG Worlds has dining outlets spread across all six zones, with the largest concentration at IMG Boulevard, the park's central hub (Gentoo). Outside food and drinks are not permitted on site. Most outlets operate without reservations, and the range covers burgers, pizza, fried chicken, and a few sit-down spaces along the boulevard.

Pricing sits in line with a mid-range mall food court. Nothing is particularly cheap, but nothing is especially expensive either. I ate at one of the IMG Boulevard cafes between rides. Standard theme park quality. The service was fast and the seating area was large enough to find a table easily on a Thursday afternoon.

Peak queues at the food courts tend to build between 1 PM and 2 PM and again after local school hours on weekdays. The rides themselves are likely to have shorter waits at those times. If you can shift your meal to around 3 PM, the food court experience improves noticeably.

For families with dietary requirements, options are not standardised across the park. Check individual outlets when you arrive. The range of choices at IMG Boulevard is broad enough that most groups will find something suitable, but confirmation on site is more reliable than planning around assumptions.

Why do families enjoy IMG Worlds?

IMG Worlds of Adventure earned 4.3 out of 5 stars from 32,920 visitors on Gentoo, with families consistently rating the mix of age-appropriate zones as the main reason they visit. The park has a dedicated inflatable zone for young children and four zones of rides for older guests. Families with a mix of ages can separate within the park without anyone spending the day standing outside a ride they cannot go on.

The indoor setting removes the single biggest practical problem of theme park visits in Dubai: heat exposure. There is no outdoor queue that builds up in direct sun, no risk of children overheating between attractions, and no need to schedule the visit around the temperature forecast. This makes IMG Worlds more viable year-round than comparable outdoor parks. In peak summer, it becomes one of the more sensible full-day options in the city.

Accessibility provision is solid throughout. Wheelchair ramps, accessible toilets, elevators, and shaded rest areas are all present. Strollers are available for hire at the entrance. Staff are responsive to assistance requests.

According to Wikipedia, IMG Worlds of Adventure was the world's largest indoor theme park at the time of its opening. It remains one of the few venues in the UAE that works simultaneously for toddlers, teenagers, and the adults managing both at the same time.
